Ken Williams
Ken Williams is program manager of the Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention and Nuclear Cities Initiative Programs in Oak Ridge, as part of the Oak Ridge Center for International Threat Reduction. Ken is an employee of BWXT Y-12, L.L.C., a subcontractor to the United States (U.S.) Department of Energy (DOE).
During his 20 years at the Y-12 National Security Complex (Y-12), Ken has served in numerous leadership positions. He has served as the Y-12 program lead for:
· the disposition of surplus U.S. Highly Enriched Uranium;
· the evaluation of the nuclear weapons complex after the end of the Cold War;
· technical training;
· special nuclear materials warehousing; and
· various weapons quality assurance programs.
Ken also served as technical security manager of the 3 Oak Ridge sites and the Portsmouth, Ohio and Paducah, Kentucky facilities. Prior to his career in Oak Ridge, he served as munitions manager in the U.S. Army with a specialty in nuclear weapons accident response.
Mr. Williams attended Louisiana State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial management and his master’s degree in business administration.
