Biographical Resume

 

Dr. Mark S. Taylor is serving a two-year assignment at the Office of Naval Research International Field Office (ONRIFO) in London as Associate Director for Materials Science.  His research interests include nanoscience/nanoelectronics, molecular electronics and metamaterials.  His permanent affiliation is with the United States Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), where he serves as Director for Industry Programs and Senior Advisor, Technology Development and Commercialization.

 

Dr. Taylor spent five years as a Member of the Research Staff at the Institute for Defense Analyses (1987–91) where he served as an interface between senior government and industry officials on technical issues involving electronics and electro-optics.  After leaving this position, he joined BDM International as a Principal Staff Member and Director of Electronics and Electro-Optics Technology.  Since leaving BDM and prior to joining CRDF, Dr. Taylor was Vice President of Technology at East/West Technology Partners, Ltd., an international joint venture established to evaluate, acquire and commercialize technologies developed in the former Soviet Union. 

 

Dr. Taylor received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987 and his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977.  He has received numerous professional awards and honors during his career, and received outstanding ratings throughout his career for his contributions to organizations with which he has been affiliated. He is a member of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Licensing Executives Society and the Association of University Technology Managers.
