Andrew A. Hood
Andrew Hood is the Senior Coordinator of the Science Centers Program, a U.S. government nonproliferation/threat reduction assistance program managed by the Department of State’s Bureau of Nonproliferation. The Science Centers Program is the management and funding source for U.S. participation in two multilateral science centers (one in Moscow, one in Kiev) dedicated to engaging and redirecting former Soviet WMD scientists and engineers to peaceful, civilian employment. Mr. Hood has been the director of this program since October 2000.
Mr. Hood has worked in policy implementation at the State Department since 1996. Prior to this, Mr. Hood was a technical analyst on a variety of programs for the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace and ocean engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Masters of Arts in diplomacy and military science from Norwich University. Mr. Hood is also a graduate of the Naval War College’s Command and Staff College.
