Mr Bassi is a retired US Air Force Officer with 26 years of active duty, mostly in scientific and environmentally-related assignments.  His previous positions include:  Professor of Strategic Studies, Joint Military Intelligence College, (1996-2000); Director, Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Nimitz Hill, Guam, (1995-1996); Program Monitor, Air Force Directorate of Modeling, Simulation and Analysis, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, (1994-1995); Director of Acquisition Meteorology and Chief Meteorologist, Air Force Space Systems Division, (1990-1992); Assistant Chief Meteorologist, Air Force Space Systems Division, (1988-1990); Air Command and Staff College Student, Maxwell Air Force Base, AL, (1987-1988); Assistant Professor of Physics and Core Course Director, U.S. Air Force Academy, (1984-1987); Chief of Operations, USAF Australian-Ionosphere Prediction Service Solar Observatory, Australia, (1979-1981); Space Environment Analyst, North American Aerospace Defense Command, (1976-1979)

He has graduate degrees from the University of Colorado, 1984 (M.S.; Astrogeophysics), Penn State, 1976 ( M.S. Meteorology),  and a B.S. in Physics (Phi Beta Kappa) from Manhattan College, 1974.
